As a dermatologist, Dr. Tasso Pappas currently practices his profession out of Saint Paul Dermatology Ltd in Minnesota, where he has been since December 2015. However, he has been in practice for roughly two decades, ever since he obtained his medical degree from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota and earned the right to the title, Dr. Tasso Pappas. Prior to that, the future doctor graduated with a with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, also from the University of South Dakota.
It’s obvious he likes what he does when Dr. Tasso Pappas describes feels that being a dermatologist is much like being a detective, in that he is always having to solve difficult mysteries and come up with solutions to serious medical conditions. He truly likes that he gets to care for patients of all ages and types and that a lot of the conditions he cures make a major difference in his patients’ lives. He also finds it challenging that dermatology is among the few types of medicine in which physicians must understand the patient and their medical history at least as much as they understand the actual medical facts and the surrounding science. Dermatology is very individualized medicine.
Not just content to practice as part of his career, Dr. Tasso Pappas also routinely performs reconstructive surgeries for skin cancer, in part, this is because he is very intent on serving his community, as well. For at least nine years, he has volunteered to participate in annual melanoma screenings in the Twin Cities region, and he has also been a volunteer for a program to provide tattoo removal services for those who used to belong to gangs but gave it up.
